Melodee Lasky, MD

Dr. Lasky joined Rutgers Student Health in 2002, after serving as Program Director of the Family Practice Residency at Somerset Medical Center. She served as Director of Health Services at Hurtado, prior to taking her current position as the Executive Director of Health Services in 2004. Board-certified in Family Practice, she maintains her clinical practice, seeing students in her office and in urgent care for a wide variety of medical problems. Dr. Lasky did her undergraduate work at Lycoming College and studied medicine at Temple University.


Lynn Fryer

Lynn Fryer, MSN, APN

Staff Nurse Practitioner
Associate Director of Medical Services

Lynn received a BA in biology from Rutgers College, and a Masters in Public Health from the University of Medicine and Dentistry-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. In 1998 she obtained a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and in 2000 a Masters of Science in Nursing from Columbia University. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, Lynn has worked in women’s health, adolescent health, HIV care, and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered (LGBT) health. She is also a New Jersey State Certified Forensic Nurse, able to conduct exams on adult victims of sexual assault.

Prior to working at Rutgers University, Lynn worked in college health at Montclair State University. Lynn was promoted to the position of Associate Director in April 2010. As Associate Director, Lynn coordinates the scheduling for the three health centers and manages the nurses, nurse practitioners and health technicians at Rutgers Student Health.


Karen Ingram

Karen Ingram, MD, FAAP

Staff Physician

Dr. Ingram is a graduate of Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY, and the former UMDNJ-Rutgers Medical School, where she completed a residency in Pediatrics in 1981. Board-certified in Pediatrics, she was in private practice, and was listed as one of “New Jersey’s Top Physicians” in New Jersey Magazine issues of 1993, 1995, and 1998. She joined Rutgers and the Hurtado Health Center in 1998 and served as the interim Medical Director from July 2000 – December 2001.


Debbie Johnson, MD

Staff Physician

Dr. Johnson is a board-certified Family Physician with a special interest in reproductive and sexual health issues. She is a Rutgers College Alumni, graduating Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She then went on to NJ Medical School in Newark for her medical degree and completed residency at Somerset Family Practice in Somerville, NJ. Dr. Johnson is a pro-choice physician who is actively involved in women’s health issues both in and out of the office. In addition, she enjoys seeing a wide-variety of general medical problems and educating students about their own health. She came to Hurtado in 2007 after many years of experience working in private practice and at Planned Parenthood.


Raj Malkani, M.D.

Staff Physician

Dr. Malkani received her M.D. degree from Grant Medical College in India. After being trained in pediatrics and adolescent medicine, she completed her residency in Pediatrics at New York University and Saint Peter’s Medical Center, rising to chief resident. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics, specializing in Adolescent Medicine, and has been with Rutgers since 1981. Dr. Malkani is an Elected Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP) and has been a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics of UMDNJ & Robert Wood Johnson Hospital since 2004.
Highly qualified to provide students with outstanding medical care, Dr. Malkani is an international public health advocate, volunteering her services to rural communities in India and the United States. She is passionate about teaching residents, medical and pharmacology students about medicine. She enjoys working with the diverse and vibrant Rutgers student body, and the analytical and surgical aspects of College Medicine, Hematology, and Women’s Health.


William Newrock, MD

Staff Physician

Dr. Newrock received his Bachelor of Science degree from Iona College and a Masters from St. John’s University. He received his medical degree from the University of Genoa, in Genoa, Italy. He did his internship and residency in family practice at John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Edison, NJ where he was also Chief Resident. Dr. Newrock has been associated with Rutgers University since 1989, and is board-certified in Family Practice. He has an interest in travel medicine and is certified in travel health.


Leo Reisberg, PA-C

Physician Assistant

Leo earned his Science degree in 2008 from the physician assistant program at UMDNJ – School of Health Related Professions in Piscataway (now part of Rutgers University).  He has worked as a PA in emergency medicine, hospital-based internal medicine, and family medicine, prior to joining Rutgers Student Health in May 2015 as its first physician assistant.  Leo received his Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from Rutgers College and worked as general new and higher-education reporter for many years, until a four-year stint as a volunteer EMT prompted him to pursue a career in medicine.

Cheryl Brown

Cheryl Brown, RN, MS, APN

Staff Nurse Practitioner

Cheryl obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania and  her Masters Degree at Rutgers University-Newark. She is board certified as a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the national honor society for nursing. Cheryl has been a nurse practitioner at Rutgers Student Health since 1990. In addition, she has experience in community based private practice in both pediatrics and gynecology. She is adjunct faculty at Seton Hall University and Rutgers University and precepts graduate nurse practitioner students at the Health Center. While Cheryl sees students with all problems, she has special interest in the area of women’s health, eating disorders and with the athletes at Rutgers.


Caroline Cunniff

Staff Nurse Practitioner

Caroline received her Bachelor of Science in Human Services from the University of Scranton. Then she went on to receive her Associates Degree in Nursing from Brookdale Community College, and her Masters of Science in Nursing from Monmouth University as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has experience working as a nurse practitioner in a pediatrician’s office, and also worked for several years as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room.


Diane Heimlich

Diane Heimlich, MSN, RNC

Staff Nurse Practitioner

Diane Heimlich began her nursing career after completing a Bachelor of Arts Degree in American Studies from the University of Michigan (Residential College). She received her undergraduate nursing degree from Columbia University, where she was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing. Her Masters of Science in Nursing Degree, with a specialty in adult primary care, was awarded from the University of Pennsylvania. She is nationally certified as an adult nurse practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the American Nurses Association. Diane has been working as a nurse practitioner since 1984. Her early experiences involved caring for indigent adult populations in the Bronx and in St. Louis, MO. She has worked for Rutgers Student Health since 1989. In addition to enjoying her general practice, she has a special interest in working with students with eating issues. She is also a member of her local Board of Health and is active in organizing an annual Health Fair in her community.


Cynthia Stitt

Cynthia Stitt, ADN, RN-C

Cynthia has had a well-traveled career. After taking some courses at Rutgers, she received her nursing degree from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. Her career has taken her as far as to Bamberg, Germany where she worked in an emergency room – and was awarded the American Red Cross Nurse’s Badge for her efforts. Cynthia has worked in college health since 1986, and in 1991 was one of the first group of nurses to become certified in college health. She is certified by the state to do HIV counseling and testing, and maintains her basic cardiac life support certification.


Diane Ahmed, BA, RN

Staff Nurse

Diane has worked on and off at the Hurtado Health Center since 1981. She received her bachelor’s degree from Douglass College and earned her nursing degree from St. Peter’s Hospital School of Nursing. Diane has been certified in a number of areas, including IV placement, HIV counseling and testing, and Basic Life Support.


Mary D’Alonzo, RNC

Staff Nurse

Mary received her nursing diploma from Saint Peter’s School of Nursing. Her 34 year nursing career has always been centered around the New Brunswick area. Her experience includes working in Medical ICU, Public Health and prior to coming to RU was charge nurse at St Peter’s University Hospital Internal Medicine outpatient practice.

Claire Enners is a Registered Nurse who has been working in a private pediatrician’s office for many years. She also has experience in case management, infusion care, and private duty nursing. She completed her nursing studies at Muhlenberg Hospital School of Nursing and has an Associates Degree in Science from Union County College. Claire is a 12 month employee and will be based at Hurtado Health Center.


Gaetana Holt, RN

Staff Nurse

Gae received her Nursing degree from UMDNJ/MCC. Her nursing career included working as a staff nurse at St. Peter’s University Hospital, as a school nurse in South Brunswick as well as a nurse in a local pediatric’s office. she has been a member of Rutgers  Health Services since 2009.


Jolaine Moffitt, RN

Staff Nurse

Jolaine Moffitt earned her nursing degree from Raritan Valley County College after working for 8 years in pharmaceutical advertising. She comes to Rutgers Student Health (RSH) as a licensed Register Nurse (RN) from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Pediatric Emergency Department. Responsibilities at the hospital included working as a staff nurse and attending to trauma patients.  Jolaine joined RSH in 2012 as an RN attending to students at Hurtado Health Center.


Jacqueline Pacheco, BS, RN

Staff Nurse

Jackie received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Rutgers College of Nursing. Most of her nursing career experience has been working as a staff and charge RN in the Pediatric Emergency/Trauma Department at RWJUH. Jackie also has prior experience working as a staff RN on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatrics Unit, and Pediatric Hematology and Oncology unit. She joined RSH in spring 2014 as a staff RN, and she is based at Hurtado Health Center.


Elky Perez, RN

Staff Nurse

Elky has been in the medical field for 7 years. She graduated from Raritan Valley Community College in 2012 as a registered nurse and has worked in several nursing facilities since graduation. Prior to nursing, she worked as a patient care technician at Somerset Medical Center and a health care specialist at Planned Parenthood.


Betty CW Storlarski

Betty CW Stolarski, RN, BSN

Staff Nurse

Betty received her BS in Nursing from Rutgers College of Nursing. She started her career at NYU Medical Center in the transplant / post-operative unit. Her passion for travel has brought her to take on assignments as a travel nurse to many cities across the US. She has been a nurse in ICU, obstetrics / gynecology office, and other specialties prior to coming to Rutgers. She has certification in phlebotomy, IV Therapy, HIV counseling, and basic life support. She has been a member of Rutgers  Health Services since 2009.


Kim Abalos

Health Technician II

Kim graduated from The Center of Allied Health School of Nursing as an LPN. Prior to working at Rutgers, she worked at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital as a Clinical Health Technician. Her responsibilities within Health Services include drawing blood and other lab tests, patient intake, ordering supplies and working closely with nurses, doctors and nurse practitioners. Kim is also a Pediatric home care nurse for Starlight Pediatric Homecare.

Attended Chubb Institute and graduated with honors from the Medical Assistant program. Liz brings her experience from her work in a private practice specializing in pulmonary disorders to Rutgers Student Health.


Shelby Hyman

Health Technician II

Shelby has been an employee at Rutgers Student Health for 24 years as a Health Technician. She attended and graduated from Bryman’s National Institute in 1986 where she trained as a Medical assistant. She enjoys working with the staff and helping the students.


Jumel Raro

Health Technician II

Jumel Raro is a licensed practicing nurse since 2005. Previously employed at Robert Wood Johnson and Fresenius Medical Center before coming to Rutgers Student Health (RSH).  He received his degree from Middlesex County Technical School and studied nursing at University of South Florida. Expertise includes cardiac telemetry and dialysis.  Jumel joined the Rutgers Student Health team in 2013 and works at Hurtado Health Center as a Health Tech.


Helen Suchocki-Martinez, CMA, RMA, REKG, RPT, AHI

Health Technician II

Helen attended college in New Jersey and trained in New York and New Jersey. At Hurtado, Helen’s broad responsibilities include performing EKGs, pulmonary function and other testing, drawing blood, and working with the nurses, nurse practitioners, and doctors to ensure that student’s medical needs are addressed. Helen is also Lead Medical Instructor at Sandford Brown Institute for over 10 yrs.


Hollie Plamisano

Athletic Trainer, RSH/Mason Gross

Hollie obtained her Bachelors of Science degree in Physical Education with concentrations in athletically training and exercise physiology from William Paterson University. She is a licensed athletic trainer by the AT committee of the Board of Medical Examiners. She has spent her entire carrier training and coaching athletes of all levels. After working at corporate fitness for several years, Hollie became the Director of Body Tech’s Personal Training Program and the AdvantEdge Sports Performance School, where she dedicated her time to build the personal training program and developing the AdvatEdge Sport Performance School. Hollie has been at Rutgers since 2009 where she primarily worked with Rutgers Sports Clubs. In 2013, she joined the Mason Gross School of the Arts Program, which provides quality, state-of-the-art methods for the prevention of injuries, outstanding care, treatment, rehabilitation of injuries, and referral procedures in the event of a student becomes injured or ill. As an athletic trainer, Hollie works under supervision and in direct consultation with the Rutgers Student Health Sports Medicine physician with the aim of fielding healthy dancers and athletes.
